F.A.Q.'s

How many people can come on a fishing trip?

*CURRENTLY DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS WE ARE LIMITED TO FOUR PASSENGERS ONLY. However, kids, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, grandmas, grandpas, etc. are all welcome aboard in numbers totaling 4 or fewer people.

How long are the fishing trips?

We offer both 4 hour and 8 hour trips from the Marina Cabo San Lucas. Times are dock to dock.

Which boat will I be on?

We operate 3 fishing boats (Kellyfish, Pacific Time, and Fish Hunter Jr.). All are similar vessels with highly qualified and experienced captains. Charters are assigned to the next available boat.

What is the best time of year to go fishing in Cabo?

We have a highly productive fishery all year long here in Cabo. Generally speaking, larger offshore billfish numbers occur from June through November. But the waters here are full of gamefish throughout the year making Cabo San Lucas one of the most incredible sportfishing locations in the world.

What if I am prone to seasickness?

We suggest taking an anti-motion sickness dose (Dramamine, e.g.) the night before your charter. When you arrive, we suggest taking an additional half-dose as you board the boat. We are NOT doctors, and this is general advice based on what works for most people. There are also several non-drug options available (like wristbands) that work for lots of folks as well.

What happens to the fish we catch and how many can we keep?

What happens to the fish is up to you, the client. We work hard to try and RELEASE ALL BILLFISH we catch. Apart from that, we suggest you decide which fish you would like to keep and cook and which fish you would like to release. Any keeper fish you do not take off the boat will be left to the captain. We adhere to ALL limit regulations which are, generally, as follows:

Each fisherman is allowed to catch up to ten (10) fish per day, exceeding no more than five (5) fish of any one species.
In addition, anglers are subject to the following restrictions:

  • No more than one (1) full-grown Marlin

  • No more than two (2) Dorado and (2) Sailfish

  • There is NO LIMIT to catch and release fishing

What should I bring?

What is your cancellation policy?

to see our What To Bring page.

We understand that sometimes things come up and you can't go fishing. Bummer. We are happy to offer a refund (less your non-refundable deposit) up to 48 hours prior to your charter. Within 48 hours of your charter, you will be responsible for the full balance and will be credited for a future trip. Should we have to cancel your charter due to inclement weather or otherwise, and we are unable to reschedule, you will receive a full refund of your purchase LESS ANY PAYPAL FEES.

Is there a toilet on board?

Yes, we have a potty on board the Kellyfish. Our other two boats do not.

Is there a way to take our fish back home when we leave Cabo?

Yes! We offer the option to purchase vacuum sealing and freezing of your fresh fish for transport back home on the plane. We will provide your frozen, vacuum packaged fish (labeled) to you and then you can then pack it in a cooler for the trip home. *VACUUM SEALING AND FREEZING OF YOUR FISH IS OPTIONAL AND IS AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE APART FROM YOUR CHARTER. FEES FOR OUR PACKING SERVICE ARE BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF FISH BEING PROCESSED AND FROZEN. ASK US AT THE TIME YOU RETURN FROM YOUR CHARTER.
